How Much Cake Will I Need?
The type of reception you have planned will determine the number of cake servings you should provide. If you plan cake and light refreshments, you will need more cake servings than if you have a full dinner or buffet. For a cake only reception, about 2/3 the number of invited guests would be a good starting place to determine the amount of guests that will actually be in attendance at your wedding reception. Generally, anticipate one slice of cake per guest. If you want to serve both bride and groom's cakes, you will split your required servings between both cakes and your guests will select one flavor.

When Do I Need to Order My Cake?
As soon as possible is always best, but no later than 1-2 months before your wedding date you should schedule a consultation to determine the style, flavors, flowers, etc. so that any items that need to be ordered are sure to be available in time for your wedding date. Keep in mind that popular dates like holidays and spring wedding dates fill up quickly, so those dates might need to be reserved as much as 5-6 months in advance. Rush orders (less than 2 week's notice) are sometimes available, depending on the date; however, an additional charge of $50 will be added to your cake order.

What Flavor of Cake Should I Order?
White or vanilla cake is traditional, however, today's brides often prefer to offer gourmet flavors in the wedding cake tiers. We have lots of different flavors of cake to choose from. Why not try a flavorful amaretto cake?
A light pineapple mousse is a perfect compliment to a pina colada flavored cake. If you prefer traditional white, jazz it up with rich white chocolate mousse or creamy Bavarian cream?
With so many choices, you are sure to find a favorite. Be sure to check our flavors and fillings pages for selection choices.

What Styles of Cakes Do You Offer?
We bake traditional pillared cakes, asymmetrical stand cakes, stacked cakes, cakes with fountains, novelty tiered cakes, hand carved cakes, and many more. We have lots of cake pictures to look at or we can help you design your own one of a kind cake.

What Kind of Icing Do You Use?
Though buttercream is still the most popular, we also offer flavored buttercreams (like mocha, lemon, butternut, and more) and rolled fondant. Depending on the time of year and design, we can offer cream cheese icing as well. We don't offer wedding cakes with whipped icing.
Rolled fondant is gaining more and more popularity and with its smooth, porcelain like finish, it is no wonder. We can flavor your fondant icing to complement your cake choice. We must confess, it is our own personal favorite icing both for looks and taste.

I've Heard Rolled Fondant Isn't Tasty. Is that true?
Many times brides come in with unfavorable opinions of rolled fondant even though they love the elegant look of the fondant designs. Usually, after talking with these brides, we discover that they haven't actually tasted a fondant cake, but rather they've just heard stories or read unfavorable reviews in bridal magazines. We always encourage you to taste a sample for yourself if you are considering rolled fondant. You don't have to sacrifice taste when you select a fondant covered cake despite what you may have heard. We will be happy to prepare a fondant sample for you if you let us know you are considering it when you schedule your consultation. Fondant icing is relatively new to the bridal market in the US. As such, some bakers have not been trained in the proper preparation of rolled fondant cakes. The cakes require an "underlayer" to keep the icing soft and it must be flavored well. Once brides actually taste our fondant cakes for themselves, they often comment that they like the flavor just as much if not better than traditional buttercream. The main difference you will notice with the rolled fondant icing is the texture. The icing is similar to a soft tootsie roll and you will have a bit of a chew as you eat the cake. As with many other things, personal tastes vary, so be sure to sample for yourself before you decide for or against this type of icing.

How much Will My Cake Cost?
The base price for a buttercream tiered cake is $3.50/serving with a minimum order of $250 if you want delivery and set up. Base price for a fondant tiered cake is $4.50/serving. There are certain cake features that cost more including very ornate decorations, hand formed gumpaste flowers, a large abundance of icing flowers, fountains, specialty cake flavors, specialty icings, cake fillings, and delivery outside of the Mabank/Gun Barrel area.

Do You Make Groom's Cakes Also?
Yes, we make Groom's cakes too! Your imagination is the limit! We can do whimsical cakes, elaborate tiered cakes, traditional fruit and basketweave or anything in between! Groom's cakes are priced per serving beginning at $3.50/serving for chocolate on chocolate designs, $3.75/serving for designs with fresh fruit or dipped strawberries, or $4.50/serving for chocolate fondant designs.

Are All the Pictures on Your Website Your Actual Work?
We only use our actual cakes on our website. We maintain a file of cake designs we think are attractive from magazines, books, and such that we use for informational purposes or when helping you design an original cake for your wedding. We do not represent these cakes as our own work, however, and never scan cake photos of other designers for our website. We are very proud of our cakes and hope our pictures give you an accurate idea of the quality of our creations.

Do I Have to Pay for the Cake At the Time of Ordering?
In order to hold your date, a 30% deposit is required, $100 of which is non-refundable. The remaining balance is due no later than 2 weeks before the wedding date. You may make regular payments to reduce your balance or you may wait and pay the balance by the deadline. If your cake has gumpaste flowers or special, handmade decorations, your balance may be due 3-4 weeks before your wedding date. Please understand that an order is not complete until a deposit is placed. We will hold your inquiry (cake style, quote, etc.) for 4 weeks after your consultation.

What if I Have to Change the Date After the Cake Has Been Ordered?
If we are able to accommodate your new wedding date, there will be a $25 fee for transferring your order to a new date. If we have another wedding already booked on the new date, all money paid up to that point minus a $25.00 consultation fee will be returned to you in compliance with the terms of your initial cake contract.

Can I Change My Cake After the Initial Order?
Absolutely! You may change styles, designs, flowers, size, and flavors up to 6 weeks before your wedding date. You will, however, be responsible for any toppers or items specially ordered for your cake design that can not be returned. These items are usually ordered 4-6 weeks before your wedding date to guarantee availability from the manufacturers. We can make minor changes within the same style range without additional charges. If you make significant changes to your design or if you add additional servings, the additional costs will be added to your cake balance. If your changes affect your balance by more than $100, a supplement to your deposit may be required.

What if I Need to Cancel My Cake Order?
If you need to cancel the order, please do so as soon as possible to enable us to have the opportunity to fill your date with an alternate order. If the order is canceled at least 8 weeks before the wedding date, we will return any money you have paid toward your cake that is above the non-refundable deposit. You will be responsible for any items specially ordered for your cake that cannot be returned. If the wedding cake is canceled less than 6 weeks before the wedding date, your deposit will be refunded minus a $75 cancellation fee. If your order is canceled less than 4 weeks before your wedding date, there will be no refund of money paid for your order.
